Having your wedding on the beach? Here are a few things to
keep in mind when looking for your dress to keep you as cool and comfortable as
possible:
- material
– look for dresses made out of lightweight, natural fibers that will
breath. Linen, cotton and silk charmeuse are all great bets as well as
finer laces and weaves like faille. Heavy fabrics, like taffeta, dupion
and tightly woven material, don’t breath or move easily
- length
– a long train or hem can be cumbersome on the beach. Look for a skirt
that just skims above your toes or hits your ankles. Short skirts, in a
cocktail length or tea-length, are also good bets - shoes
– leave the heels for the reception, as you’ll not be able to walk in the
sand with them. Choose a comfortable pair of sandals or go barefoot. Keep
in mind your choice of footwear when buying your dress - dirty/wet
– if you’re marrying on the beach or plan on having a photo session on the
water’s edge, it’s inevitable that your dress is going to get wet and
sandy (most of the sand will come off easily brushing with a towel). If
you don’t want to get your dress dirty at all, you may want to rethink
where to have the ceremony
