Cheese Bar

I love the idea of having a 'cheese bar' for a cocktail hour (not sure if anyone has done this before but the idea popped into my head). Making a wedding unique is about the little touches and having an interactive station is a surefire way to make an impact on your guests.

The good folks over at the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board have a fun site called Cheese Cupid. Here, you'll find the perfect pairing of drink with cheese. For example, that sassy, oaky Chardonnay loves an Asiago or Gruyere while a Pilsner beer pairs beautifully with a Monterey Jack or Havarti (which also go great with a Beaujolais).

So, for your cocktail hour, you could have a number of cheeses set out with a small menu beside them, outlining which beverage best pairs with them. Your guests can then see how the different drinks bring out the various nuances of the fromage. Fun, different and not a heck of a lot of work on your end.

  1. Thanks for the fun post. Frankly, I think cheese classes up any occasion. Especially when you spear it with a toothpick and, like you said, call it “fromage.” 🙂
