Cocktail Friday – Mock Mojito

A very happy Friday, especially to my American friends gearing up for the first long weekend of the summer. Or should that be the 'wheeeeee! kend'? Today's drink is non-alcoholic, so great for lounging around on the deck or serving as a welcome cocktail at the wedding. It's not quite a mojito (and having done the 'Hemingway Passed Out Here' mojito tour of Havana, I feel somewhat qualified to judge) but it's a passable facsimile. All in all, a nice, refreshing drink for any time of the day.

Mock mojito

Mock Mojito

4 or 5 springs of fresh mint

1 lime

1 oz. simple syrup

6 to 8 oz. soda water

lime wedges

Muddle the mint (reserve one sprig for garnish) with the simple syrup in the bottom of a tall glass. Add ice cubes. Squeeze half of one lime into the glass, reserving the other half for garnish (slice it into three or four wedges). Top with soda water. Stir, drop in lime wedges, and decorate with the last sprig of mint. Salut!

  1. Hi I just bumped into your blog! Que bonita!
We just spent the day at an Oregon winery oooooola la. If you get the chance GO! Winery after winery in the Willamette Valley. Sabes estaba en Costa Rica con la bueno Ricardo Arjona hacia unos anos.
