Bit of a grey, drizzly day here and thought a bit of purple would brighten things up. And really, how often do you see a purple drink? Makes one almost giddy.
Now be warned, Lazy Bride, that this one takes a bit of prep and forethought. This isn't one that you just decide to imbibe on the spur of the moment. No, no, you must prepare a week ahead of time so timing is everything. But it's not terribly labour intensive so no worries as the threat of breaking into any kind of a sweat is pretty minimal. There is also a short-cut method, for those in a rush but try being a purist, as the amazing colour and unique flavour make this worth the effort.
Purple Rain Martini
2.5 oz pomegranate-infused sake (see below)
2.5 oz pineapple juice
1/2 oz Chambord
Pomegranate-infuse sake – combine 1 liter of sake with the sees of 2 pomegranates. Let infuse for 1 week (if in a rush, combine 2.5 oz of sake sake with 1/2 oz pomegranate juice).
Combine the infused sake, pineapple juice and Chambord in a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake vigorously. Strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with umbrella. Cheers!
