Today's libation is the Sea Breeze, a fresh, fruity cocktail with a kick. You can stir it up by the pitcherful and it makes a wonderful signature cocktail.
Why did I choose this drink today? It's an homage to Andy Hallett, a talented singer/actor best known for his role on Angel as Lorne, the green-skinned, karaoke-bar owner and empathic demon who adored Sea Breezes. Not only was it one of my favourite shows but Lorne was a character that made me want to tune in every week. Sadly, Andy passed on Sunday from a heart condition at only 33 years of age. His star was extinguished much too soon.
The Irish have a tradition of toasting the dearly departed and with this sentiment, I raise an icy glass of Sea Breeze yumminess to Andy.
1.5 oz vodka (the good stuff)
2 oz grapefruit juice (fresh squeezed if possible)
3 oz cranberry juice
lime wedge for garnish
Mix all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Strain into a tall glass, garnish with a lime wedge and enjoy!
