Why hello there! Grab your favourite martini (mine is gin and dirty), pull up a comfy seat and put those tired bridal feet up. I’m so delighted that you’ve joined us.
So, who am I and why am I passionate about weddings?
Well, I wish I could say it all started back when I was 7 years old and playing dress up with my Barbies but…no. Weddings weren’t something I dreamed of but I sure did enjoy them (so much food and dancing). I honestly fell into them by circumstance. I love events and planning events and a good party (hey, who doesn’t?). I somehow ended up running events for non-profits after I retired from a professional dancing career.
And then I planned my own wedding (great fun).
Then a big door opened for me so I walked through and ended up being the wedding planner for a travel agency in Costa Rica. A couple of years later, I had opened my own planning firm and here I am, 15 years and 500 weddings later. To boot, I’ve won some pretty cool awards, like A-list: Destination Weddings & Honeymoons Magazines’ Top 30 Wedding Planners in the World and 25 Most Influential Wedding Planners in the World plus being featured as a wedding expert in Martha Stewart Weddings, Brides, Readers Digest, Huffington Post and Weddingwire.
Along the way, I realized that there was a huge gap in the wedding industry. Sure, there were oodles of blogs for DIY brides and for the brides who’ve planned their entire wedding since they were 5 years old but…there was nothing for the brides who wanted a great wedding without selling their soul or becoming a slave to planning. And that’s how The Lazy Bride was born.
When I’m not in the tulle trenches, I can be found with my husband, daughter and six rescue dogs (crazy dog lady alert!) in the hills west of San Jose in tropical Costa Rica. Life is good and made even better knowing I’m helping brides realize their dream day without the angst.
Cheers to embracing your Lazy Bride and having fun while you plan the best day ever!
