Sharing the Joy

September 18, 2008 By: larissacomment

On your day, you may want to share the harmony, love and joy you feel with the rest of the world. I came across this idea in this month's Yoga Journal for an invocation. It's a beautiful Sanskrit blessing and when it is heard and echoed by others, it's power grows. You may want to include it in your wedding program and perhaps have everyone at the ceremony say it together as a means of extending the beauty of your day to the rest of the Universe. I did a similar idea at our wedding and I truly believe it helped imbue our marriage with all the good things we've enjoyed the past five years.

Here it is with the pronunciation as well as the English translation:

Lokah Samastah
Sukhino Bhavantu
(Low-kaah Suh-muh-staah
Soo-knee-no Bhuh-vuhn-tu)
May everyone everywhere be happy
May the whole world be joyous
